The vast city of Mysore is a pleasure to explore due to its eclectic mix of exquisite old colonial buildings. A magnificent Indian palace and a lush, well-kept garden. Although those who like to shop will enjoy spending time in the city's famous Sandalwood and Silk Bazaar, the main attraction is the magnificent Mysore Palace.
This beautiful three-story palace was completely rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1897. Its highlights include the elegant square tower and cupola; the many ornate ceilings and pillars of Durbar Hall; and the beautiful wedding hall. There are glazed tiles, impressive stained glass windows, works of art and jewelry displays (on special occasions, it is also a place to display the exquisite golden throne).
To really enjoy it, be sure to see a magnificent light show that takes place every Sunday and on public holidays, when the palace will be illuminated by more than 90,000 lights. An interesting way to explore the vast grounds and gardens of the palace is as part of a bike tour, which can be used for free once you enter.
